Tour Overview

Embark on an unforgettable day-tour in southern Belize, exploring the vibrant marine ecosystem and experiencing a blend of adventure, education, and relaxation. This tour offers an immersive experience into Belize’s rich marine life, sustainable seaweed farming, and the production of seaweed value-added products.

Itinerary

1. Departure and Arrival

Morning Departure: Set sail from BBLUE Hub in the early morning, with a scenic boat ride through the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea.

2. Snorkeling and Marine Observation

First Stop - UNESCO World Heritage Site: Laughing Bird Caye: Dive into the crystal-clear waters surrounding this stunning island. Snorkel among vibrant coral reefs and observe a diverse array of marine life, including sea turtles, rays, and sharks.

Silk Caye: Continue your underwater exploration at Silk Caye, where you’ll encounter even more spectacular coral formations and marine creatures. Enjoy a close-up view of the underwater wonders that make Belize a top snorkeling destination.

Gladden Spit: Visit Gladden Spit, a renowned marine reserve, and one of the best spots to witness the majestic whale sharks (seasonal). Learn about the importance of marine conservation and the efforts to protect these gentle giants.

3. Lunch Break

Relax and Recharge: Enjoy a delicious, locally-prepared lunch on the boat or on one of the picturesque cayes. Take in the serene surroundings and share your snorkeling adventures with fellow travelers.

4. Seaweed Farming Introduction

Seaweed Farm Visit: Head to a local seaweed farm where you will be introduced to the sustainable practice of seaweed farming. Learn about the different seaweed species cultivated, including Eucheuma isiforme and Gracilaria crassissima, and their role in the ecosystem.

Farming Seaweed: Participate in hands-on activities to understand the process of farming seaweed. Gain insights into the cultivation techniques and the environmental benefits of this sustainable practice.

5. Seaweed Value-Added Products

Interactive Session: Participate in an informative session about the transformation of raw seaweed into various value-added products. Discover how seaweed is used in products such as soaps, lotions, moisturizers, shampoos, and conditioners. Understand the economic and environmental benefits of seaweed farming for the local communities.

6. Return Journey

Afternoon Departure: As the day draws to a close, relax on the boat ride back to BBLUE Hub, reflecting on the day’s experiences and the incredible sights you’ve seen.

7. Arrival in BBLUE Hub

Evening Arrival: Arrive back in BBLUE Hub in the late afternoon, with plenty of time to enjoy the evening at your leisure.
